by Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. This song has had growing significance for me lately.
(on player at bottom of post page, #86)
note the dedication in this live recording:
"This is for you, Daddy..."
I took my love, and I took it down
I Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Mmm, mmm, I don't know
Mmm, mmm
Mmm, mmm
Well, I've been afraid of changing 'Cause I've
built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older and I'm getting older too
So...
I've been afraid of changing 'Cause I've,
I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
and I'm getting older too
Oh, I'm getting older too
So, take this love, and you take it down
Oh, if you climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide'll bring it down, down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, maybe
the landslide bring me down
Well, well the landslide'll bring it down
This song never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Especially the line 'Even children get older, and I'm getting older too.'
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dedication.
Thank you, Ciara dear.
ReplyDeleteThat is the line which once got to me most. Though now, I am crushed by another two...
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Mmmm...
I don't know...
Thank you, again,
Circe
Lovely song - and landscape, Circe.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, these are the ways of healing, growing. Fathers and their lives. We’re left in wonderment at some things, but I believe there are gifts, always - even if some aren‘t apparent, at first, under that shell of first-realization that needs to be gotten through. It takes time, it seems - sometimes, a great deal of time. I suppose, to all little girls (which we all are, inside, because that’s how fathers always view us), our fathers are our heroes. So strange-feeling when we realize just how human the hero was/is - and, vice-versa. The love we have for them never changes, though.
You are in my thoughts, dear.
Hugs,
Amanda
Dear Circe,
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note, here, to let you know that I am thinking of you. Today is a difficult day, I’m sure. It is, here, too, but I know how hard it must be for you, in particular.
I’m sending you particularly loving thoughts, today, and will light a candle for your father.
Love,
Amanda
Dear Amanda.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much... that means so much to me.
Seeing as I already typed a lengthy response, but was bumped off blogger for some reason and lost it, I'll take that to mean it may have not been meant to be (my earlier writing).
I hope you weathered the day as well as can be, as well.
Hugs and Happy Monday to you!
Circe
